We're Building A New Chicken Barn From Scratch & WE NEED YOU!

Fourteen baby chickens came home to Catskill Animal Sanctuary in January. They joined our flock of over 100 chickens after the poultry farm they came from went bankrupt, abandoning the chickens in the harsh cold of winter. Just over 560 were rescued. Thousands of others died. 

In the time that those fourteen have been here, we've come to know and love them as individuals. There's Winter, the escape artist, who can always find her way out of trouble; there's Keira who likes the appropriately timed snuggle; there's Cyrus who's not afraid to stand up for what's right; and Denver who likes to take selfies with front-facing phone cameras. Each and every one of them craves love and yearns for an enriching and fulfilling life. That's exactly what we provide at Catskill Animal Sanctuary.

These girls are changing people's hearts and minds every day. As we watch these chickens grow and thrive, we see them care for one another, and play, and problem-solve, we're reminded why we do this tiring, difficult work. We know in our hearts that their lives count—every single one of them.

We brought them to Sanctuary. Now, we need YOUR help to build them the perfect home.

We know they're going to get bigger—a lot bigger, and they need a space that's big enough for them and can keep them safe through the summer AND long winter months. Right now, our Animal Caregivers look out for over 120 chickens in 15 different enclosures across 150 acres. It's time to improve their housing so that everyone can live their best life.

This new home meets an urgent need to provide them with natural light, a comfortable and temperature-controlled space, and it allows us to attend to their unique needs in a more efficient way. 

Chickens are SO MUCH MORE than most people know. They're highly intelligent, emotional beings and they deserve a home where they can live out the rest of their days in peace.
