Lions Club 160 ft Flag Pole
Donation protected
We are the New Baltimore Lions Club.
We have started a fund raiser for a FLAG POLE that will be the largest flag pole in Michigan. We had an old water tower (150ft) that was in our city park on Lake St Clair at the north edge of Anchor Bay. It was a beacon for boats to find their way back to New Baltimore by day or night. We had to tear it down due to safety issues. It would have cost $350,000 to repair and paint the tower. That was too much money to save it.
The New Baltimore Lions Club earlier this year decided to start this fund raiser to replace the tower with a 160 foot flag pole and the flag will be 30ftX60ft. There will be lights at the bottom of the flag pole and a red avaition light on top of the pole.
Having a large flag would be a patriotic symbol and it would be one of the largest flag pole in Michigan. If you Google it you will find Tawas City currently has a flag pole that is at 141 ft. There is a car dealer in Redford Township has 154ft pole. So our Lions Club decided to aim for160ft for this replacement beacon and land mark.
To kick off this fund raiser our club has dedicated $10,000. We will be going to other community groups to gain support. Any and all help will be appreciated. Our new goal is $102,000. All extra money will go to providing extra back-up flag replacements. Our original dedication was planned for Memorial Day but due to our lack of money we are now targeting the installation in the month of September, 2016.
We hope you can help us meet our goal.
The price would be a total installed price with electrical.
Ron Earle is a Lions Club Member and Chair for the project.
Special Markings will be placed at the base of the Flag Pole to commemorate all major donations of $1,500 or more.
