Centro Apoyo Mutuo Las Carolinas

In May 2018, students from the Pace University NYC campus visited Puerto Rico for the "Beyond the Skyline: Domestic Travel Program in Social Justice, Diversity and Leadership". On the trip, a day was spent at the Centro Apoyo Mutuo Las Carolinas ( Las Carolinas Mutual Support Center) preparing meals, cleaning, and delivering food to elders living within the community of Caguas. This specific part of Caguas is one of the poorer neighborhoods of Puerto Rico, and also one of the most affected areas from Hurricane Maria. The center was created after the hurricane swept the beautiful island in 2017, in an effort to help those living in economic struggle. Since it is a non-profit organization, all the funds and resources are provided by supporters.  


We, the students of Beyond the Skyline 2018 trip to Puerto Rico, were inspired to be of further support towards this initiative. There is power in numbers and when government fails to provide, it is up to the people to stand by each other's side.  Please join us in raising funds and/or awareness so the organization can continue to help the people of Puerto Rico.
