Hello, my name is XianAn (Venerable XA or 현안스님) and I am the founder of "Chan Meditation in the Park" and it's a group started in 2014 (www.chanmeditation.net). Our goal is to spread this powerful meditation experience and to make it more accessible for everyone. For the past 4 years, I have organized classes without asking for help. I was able to support and provide free classes as I had my own business. In 2019, I decided to leave the home life in order to dedicate my life for cultivation and studying Buddhism.
My teacher taught me that I first need to take loss to help others. By practicing giving, along with meditation practice, I was able to improve myself, my business and become a better person. After seeing how Chan meditation can change people's lives, I want to open the doors for others to be a part of it.
I used to drive and fly to many cities and organize meditation classes, and promoted Chan Meditation because I saw how Chan meditation can transform and already transformed so many people's lives and their loved ones.
I have been donating my own time and money, but my own resources are limited. Since I became a left-home person, I am more limited. So if you want to be a part of it and benefit others, you can support this cause.
With your help, we can do much more and reach out to more people. Our meditation classes are designed to help everyone. We welcome all ages, levels and religions in all our classes.
The donations will be used to:
- Cover general expenses for space rental, gas, parking to organize community classes.
- Advertising, online positing, printing flyers and posters, online subscriptions.
- Small donations to temples who generously let us use their space.
- Donations to print more Chan Handbook (Meditation guide book).
If you are already practicing Chan and got much out of it, please support this program so we can continue to offer Chan meditation classes in various communities. If you have not come to our classes yet, you can support us so that we can make the world better through meditation! Chan is powerful and we see how people are changing very quickly through meditation practice. With proper teaching and guidance, meditation can help people become more patient and compassionate and become less angry, reduce their stress and anger/anxiety.
