Charlene’s Immunotherapy Lifeline

After multiple failed attempts with chemotherapy to treat my terminal stage four bowel cancer, I was lucky enough to be offered Nivolumab, an immunotherapy drug which is not available on the NHS. The manufacturer, Bristol Mayer Squibb, offered me the drug free of charge for two years or until there were any signs of cancer progression. I was literally on my deathbed in December 2018 and after starting on this immunotherapy drug in February of 2019 my tumours have shrunk to a third of their size and have remained unchanged for 10 months. I’m now coming up to a year of being on this drug and the funded treatment will cease in January 2021 so I need to raise funding to continue to receive this lifeline as there is no sign of NICE approval for its use in treatment of bowel cancer on the NHS. The treatment costs around £5000 a month so I’m aiming to achieve funding for another two years of treatment. If, for any reason, my treatment becomes fully funded or has to be stopped without any future possibility of restarting, any funds raised by this campaign will be donated to a cancer charity.
