Child Obesity Awareness Play

 
The book and the play incorporates eating a healthy diet, hip hop, Entomology science, dance, emotions, poetry and comedy.  Our goal is to help fight childhood obesity by offering children healthy alternatives, and stressing the importance of exercise. The target age group for the play is Pre K - 7th grade. We are seeking assistance with costumes, venue, and transportation.  The story is trendy, but still allows a more urban feel. I have incorporated dance scenes so that the audience will have the opportunity to interact with the cast, while learning new vocabulary words. This play will be a hit with local school districts and boys and girls clubs. The Biting Spiders New Diet is the book which is being sold on Amazon.com

The Biting Spider's New Diet  is a children’s book about a timid black widow spider named Wendy. She tries to save other spiders from extinction by persuading them to change their diets.  She also must find a way to rescue her captive parents. They are being held in an exhibit by the local zoo’s Entomologist. Pleading with them to change their diets of human blood, to a diet of healthy fruits and vegetables is not an easy task. Wendy has to seek the help of comrades who see the benefit of the change earlier than the others do.  Eventually, a break-through emerges, and Wendy’s efforts pay off.  She emerges as a “hero” and her parents get rescued. The fellow spiders find that “veggies’ aren't so bad after all.  This book is rich-texted with attractive illustrations. The entomology theme that permeates throughout the book will certainly captivate 5-8 year old spider lovers.
