RIP Spiderman - Chris Medina Fund

Donation protected
In 2015 I went to a photography meet up in downtown Los Angeles. I had gone to any type of social media organised meet up, but I was excited. That evening I met a guy who was wearing a beautifully created Spiderman suit, with custom shoes, webbing, sizing, face shell, and magnetic eyes; created by RCP stuidos. I came to learn that his name was Chris Medina, a dancer, photographer, and adventurer. That night the host of the meet up left early and Chris, myself, and a group of about ten others continued our journey through the streets of LA. Chris became our subject that night...our own comic book character, who also just happened to be my childhood hero.

Our little group created a group chat on Instagram and we constantly set up plans to shoot together, and while most of the time it was three to six of us at a time, and soon we grew extremely close; we vibed off of each others' style, collaborated together, and traveled the country together. On April 20th, Chris, Vikers, and I planned to FINALLY go a helocopter ride over LA to shoot together, but unfortunately the company we tried to book with never called us back.

The last time we spoke was the night of the 25th. We were trying to plan a trip to go to San Francisco in May. He was so excited to finally go, as we had been planning this trip for about a year.

Fast forward to April 26th. Chris went to see Infinity War (he got to see Spidey one last time), and headed to the gym for his normal late night workout session. It is possible, and simple speculation/process of elimination would agree, that Chris was lifting and his body couldn't handle the pressure, which resulted in an immediate brain hemorrhage, and has been completely unresponsive. Today, May 2nd, Chris was unplugged from life support and brought into surgery, as per his requests, as an organ donor. This loss is devastating for the Medina family, their friends, and the many lives that Chris touched.

The video above is a compilation of the footage I've filmed of Chris since the first day we met. I am so grateful that I have had the opportunity to get to know Chris on a personal level, and capture his greatness. I wanted to make this video to share the power, vibrance, and love that poured out of Chris every single day. A few days prior to his accident, he messaged me privately to check on me, as I was having a bad day. He's always been there for his friends and I know he'd do the same for any of us if the tables were turned.

I'm literally sobbing while typing this..I just want him to wake up so we can go on our trips and ride in helocopters and go into abandoned buildings like idiots together. Please send anything you can spare, even if it's just a simple share, money, prayers, or positive energy; anything helps.

I am also selling prints of the photos I've taken of Chris, which you can see on this page or on my website, where you can purchase them. 50% of the sales will also be donated to Chris and his family, to help with medical expenses, financial aid, and anything else they may need right now. Money doesn't mean anything in comparisson to my friend's life, but unfortunately it's one of the dark sides of life.

All in all, through this tragedy, our lil' photo crew has grown closer and we will continue to capture the world for Chris, run through the streets in costumes, and create memories that will long outlive us. This is why we take photos. This is why we film. This is our brother and we will support him however we can.

Thank you,

- The JohnDitch Crew
