As you know Ukraine has been struggling to preserve its freedom and independence since November 2013. When, with much blood and tragedy, the Ukrainian dictator Yanukovich was ousted and fled the country, Russian dictator Putin took the opportunity and attacked Ukraine by annexing Crimean Peninsula territory. The European Union and the United States agreed that the “referendum” for Crimean independence was illegal, happened under the Russian guns and does not represent the will of the people. Soon after the annexation, Putin began an attack on Ukraine’s eastern border, supplying heavy arms and mercenaries. You all heard what happened to the Malaysian airplane as a result of Russia sponsoring terrorism. The battle is not over yet for the young Ukrainian democracy.
Decades of corruption and treacherous governing left Ukraine with a weakened and badly equipped army, so Ukrainian citizens and expats all over the world began a large effort of crowd funding. Ukrainians have formed large chains of volunteers who provide the army with everything from helmets to bullet proof vests to weapons to medical treatments abroad and establishing funds for the children and widows of the fallen. Volunteer surgeons operate on the battle fields, wearing bullet proof vests purchased by their families as the army doesn’t provide them to the medics. Volunteer drivers evacuate wounded from under the enemy fire using their personal vehicles and utilizing Google maps; official military maps are outdated. Ukrainian soldiers are grateful for used American or British military uniforms because Ukrainian made ones are of low quality and are not made for combat.
Dear friends, me and my friend Vasil Osipenko, have established this fund to ask you for donations. Every little bit helps. We want to ensure that Ukraine wins this fight for its independence, much like Americans did in 1776, and finally uses its chance to become a member of the civilized world.
We plan to use a well-established and trusted charity to get your donations to the Ukrainian warriors on the field. For more information about this charity, please message me. My husband and I have donated through this charity and we can tell you they are a courageous and trustworthy group of Ukrainian patriots. We may also use the donations to purchase used uniforms. Right now we are in the process of establishing the need for them.
