Blue Lake Camp for Makayla
Donation protected
Makayla showed a natural born interest and incredible talent for drawing at a very early age. By age 2 she was drawing very detailed pictures of clowns, cats and her family. As she grew older, her drawings have become more elaborate and more detailed and have truly come to show the sheer talent that she possesses. She has experimented with main different mediums, including, pencil, markers, crayons, oil pastels, paint, and clay. Her creativity and vision are awe inspiring. Makayla is entirely self taught. She has not recieved any formal instruction outside of art class in school. Her art teachers have always been amazed and excited about Makayla's natural talent, and this year her teacher recognized that by awarding Makayla one of only two available scholarships to Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp.
"Blue Lake Fine Arts Camp, a summer school of the arts is locates on a 1,400 acre campus in Michigan's Manistee National Forest, offers fine arts education for all ages. Each summer, the principal camp program serves more that 5,400 gifted elementary, junior high, and high school students with diverse programs in music, art, dance, and drama."
This is such an amazing opportunity for Makayla and we are so incredibly proud of her and appreciative to her teacher for recognizing her potential and gifting this partial scholarship to her. The camp is elite and expensive. Even with the scholarship, there remains a large portion due to allow her to participate in the 2 week program. We are determined to get her there though, some how, some way. So, we are reaching out to family, friends and our community to help us raise some of the funds to afford this incredible experience to our incredible girl! Any amount, no matter how big or small is appreciated more than you could possibly know!!!
