Bryan and Carole's Immigration Fees

Donation protected
As most of you reading this are aware, my husband and I have been trying for over three years to obtain permission for him to be with me in Canada. I live in Nova Scotia. He lives in Washington State. We met about 6 years ago on Facebook, first friends, and then we fell in love. We met in "real life" in 2012 and started talking about the future. It would be another two years before we could see each other again when we married in June 2014 on beautiful Orcas Island in Washington. No matter what happened, marriage was the one thing nobody could take away from us. More than two years after our wedding, we remain forced apart.

This has been a difficult and often painful journey which has been filled with unexpected obstacles, errors, and delays beyond our control. We did everything right, but our efforts fell short. This, however, is not about blame. There has been confusion on all sides of the issue. Please understand that we cannot go into the details of this case.

But this isn't just about us. There is someone else in this situation who has suffered the burden. My son, who adores the step-father he has never met in person. He was very happy for us on our wedding day, and having his blessing made it perfect. Skype, chat, gifts... technology has kept us connected, but it cannot compare to the bonds formed from being together as a family. My son deserves better. We deserve better. We have had too many setbacks over the years, but our hopes and dreams for the future still far outweigh them.

It is not easy asking for help. We are both humble people who don't like to burden others, but legal fees (yes, we have a lawyer) and the costs of various applications involved in this process are greater than we can manage alone, especially after depleting most of our savings on previous efforts.

Any donation size is welcome, as are your letters of support. It is unlikely there will be any unused funds, but if there are, they will be used (hopefully) in relocation fees as we finally welcome Bryan to his new home, with us in Canada. Fingers crossed.

We thank you for taking the time to read our story, and for your generosity. For those who have watched our story unfold over the years, we are grateful for your continued support. To those who are having hard times and unable to donate, I want you to know how much your friendship means to us. You have helped us through many challenges without even realizing it.

Thank you,
Bryan and Carole Clift
