THE CLOCKWORK ORANGES HAVE QUALIFIED FOR THE FIRST ROBOTICS WORLD CHAMPIONSHIP!!!

On Saturday, March 28th, Team 4322-Clockwork Oranges competed in the finals at the FIRST Robotics Competition Las Vegas Regional and earned a spot to compete against the top 600 teams around the globe at the World Championship in St. Louis, Missouri from April 22-25, 2015.

The Clockwork Oranges have realized an incredible number of FIRST accomplishments already this season:

-We expanded from one OUSD high school to three
-We grew from 8 to 30 hard-working and enthusiastic team members
-We started Orange Robotics Advocates, a 501c(3) status organization
-We held a Robot-in-a-Day Camp for 2nd-6th graders
-We built a practice robot AND a competition robot in 6 weeks
-We competed for the FIRST Chairman's Award
-We debuted our new uniforms (check out our overalls!)
-We won the Team Spirit Award at the Los Angeles Regional Competition

As you can imagine, the team is thrilled to have the opportunity to compete against the top teams in the world for the FIRST Championship title, but we are short of our fundraising goal and unable to commit at this time. We are asking for your assistance to help us reach another milestone this season and make it possible for us to attend the World Championship for the first time in our team’s history.  If you can contribute  in any amount, we would be profoundly grateful. The team will be pursuing every available option to raise the funds necessary for our travel;please forward this link to anyone you believe could help us reach our goal.

Thank you again for supporting Team 4322-The Clockwork Oranges!

Team 4322 Orange Unified School District Robotics-Clockwork Oranges is a year round FIRST Robotics Competition program created in 2012 that provides opportunities for high school students in the Orange Unified School District and Orange community to learn and practice STEM skills in an engaging and supportive mentor-based environment.

By particpating in the FIRST Robotics Competition (FRC), students are able to:

• Qualify for over $20 million in FIRST scholarship opportunities to accredited universities and colleges across the United States and abroad.

• Gain valuable job skills and experience in engineering, programming, CAD design, and fabrication by working under the guidance of mentor professionals.

• Compete against national and international FIRST Robotics teams in two regional tournaments by designing, prototyping, and building two robots in only six weeks.

Learn entrepreneurial, fundraising, and time-management skills.

• Serve their community as robotics mentors, STEM ambassadors, and volunteers.

In addition to this competition, our team actively promotes STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Math) education and ideals to local elementary and middle schools, as well as the greater Orange community during the rest of the year. This past November, our team created and offered our inaugural Robot-In-A-Day robotics day-camp where new and experienced team members and mentors taught classes on mechanics, programming, circuits, and tool safety to  elementary school-aged children. Each child left the camp with newly acquired STEM skills, a kit robot they built, and an increased interest in pursuing further science, technology, math, and engineering studies. FRC Team 4322 also assists with the annual VEX IQ Challenge event at the OUSD Science Center for students in grades 3-8, and provides mentoring for after-school robotics programs at  local elementary schools. As the only FRC team in Orange, we aspire to be a valuable robotics and STEM resource for all youth in the City of Orange and surrounding areas.

The costs to maintain such an enriching and rewarding program are significant; nearly $40k per year. As a self-supporting team, we are responsible for many expenses such as: regional tournament fees, robot parts and materials, fabrication and machining, computer hardware and software, tournament travel costs, and more. This program cannot exist without the generous donations and support from people like YOU. Your donation today is an investment in our futures as science and technology leaders.
