CLOSED. THANK YOU, ALL! Simon & Leo College Fund

Hello All -
Darcy loved school for the sheer joy of learning. Few things brought her greater satisfaction than learning something new she could use right away, such as a better way to tie her shoelaces, taking a work-related biostatistics class at the U, or poring over the latest breast cancer research. I especially admire how Darcy would wield her curiosity and learning skills to weaken her fear of the cancer in her body. Her detailed understanding of anatomy, the cancer, and the treatments all came from using knowledge to overcome what she feared most. The skills for this approach were developed through an excellent education.
I decided to create this college fund for Leo and Simon for two reasons: first, Darcy passed away the same week as the first payments are due for Simon’s tuition. Simon and I will be having a long-anticipated conversation with the financial aid office about this in the coming week. However, the loss of half our family income combined with tuition payment(s) and the expenses that arise after someone passes have made for some tight but navigable finances for our household. I intend to use some of these funds to defray the burial expenses and cost of the memorial service. Second and more importantly, I want our sons to develop the same skills and appreciation for learning as Darcy. Simon and Leo know as well as I do how Darcy’s opinion on a given topic mattered because she knew what she was talking about. They learned to respect and admire that, too. This college fund honors Darcy’s love of learning and gives long-lasting support to Leo and Simon to follow in Darcy's footsteps.
Please help me accomplish these two things by contributing to Leo and Simon’s college fund.
Thank you,
James
