Support the Coop!

UPDATE: Now that summer is passed, we are working on scouting out either possible new locations or continuing to work towards updating our current building to be the right temperature to store our produce and have happy, comfortable shoppers and staff.
Our current need is to keep the store funded enough to stay open over the next few months as we make changes to move us toward sustainability!
Your donation will go towards our operating costs, possible moving costs, and any building updates we install. Thank you for your support- we couldn't be here without you, and we exist to serve the community.
We are a new and growing store and we need your help! Our goal is to use the funds raised here to install a simple cooling system for our building.
Our space was lovingly transitioned into a grocery store last year, but it is not equipped to handle the summer heat. Our windows do not open, and the many coolers and freezers pump heat into our small space. On a sunny 70 degree day, the store can get up to 90+ degrees inside! This environment is not healthy for customers, employees, or our groceries. At night, the heat is trapped and our food and goods perish faster.
We want to install a system that will vent out the hot air and push in cooler air from outside. These systems are costly and paying for the system and installation outright is too high an expense for our current finances to bear. We are working with local HVAC pros on what will be the most cost-effective solution and will update as soon as we have a plan to move forward! Any extra funds will be used towards purchasing other essential Coop fixtures.
The Anacortes Food Coop is a member-owned grocery store that provides food, goods and services that are local, organic or sustainably grown, and creates a gathering place for education about food, health, sustainability and local resources.
With over 400 members who are also owners and community members, our vision is to grow a healthy and connected community by offering products and services based on cooperative and sustainable principles.
Please help us to achieve our mission and support the community by donating to our fund!
