Coram Community Crosswalk

Donation protected
Glacier View 4H is a small but active club of local youth who have taken the 4H pledge to heart “for my club, my community, my country, and my world”. We are raising funds to purchase a flashing light at the Coram crosswalk.

Glacier View 4H is concerned about the risks of crossing HWY 2 in Coram Montana.   This is the only crosswalk in the Coram area, and also the only bike path crossing point between Badrock Canyon and West Glacier.

Coram is a small town located 7 miles West of Glacier National Park. We have campgrounds, cabins, hotels, restaurants, bars, a distillery and multiple family destination fun spots all located on Highway 2.  In the summer months the normally quiet little town becomes busy with visitors and locals alike enjoying the activities of our beautiful area.

Highway 2 is the only year round road crossing the continental divide in the northern most part of Montana. It is a busy 2112 mile long highway connecting Everett, Wa to St. Ignace, MI.  The local highway traffic has a large increase of use during the warmer months, as it is the main road to connecting the entrance of Glacier National Park with the Flathead valley.

The current location of the crosswalk is on top of a hill, where the traffic speed is posted to slow down to 50 mph. It is also the first place you get a good glimpse of Glacier National Park peaks.

Glacier View 4H is currently gathering information on this crossing, and the surrounding roads. We are working with the Montana Math Models program from Montana State University to find solutions to solve this community safety issue.
