As we mourn the tragic passing of Officer Harlan Tray Whitworth, we bond together as a community to assist his family. Many requests have come in from across the nation to help support the family of our fallen brother.
Officer Harlan Tray Whitworth went home to be with the Lord on Friday, August 21, 2015 after a drowning at Lake Murray State Park while scuba diving. Officer Whitworth was a husband, father, and highly respected man of integrity and class.
Tray was a veteran police officer who faithfully served the citizens of Fort Worth since 1998. Tray previously served as a police officer for the Irving Police Department and was an Eagle Scout.
Tray attended Henderson County Junior College in Athens, TX. He continued his education at The University of North Texas where he earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice. Tray joined the Irving Police Department where he worked for 10 years with the majority of his career as a Motor Officer. He was also a member of Texas Law Enforcement Rodeo Association for many years and worked as a Reserve Officer for the City of Weatherford, Texas.
In 1998, Tray joined the Fort Worth Police Department and he became an integral part of the police department working as a Motor Officer and in the Intelligence Unit. Tray dedicated his life to the protection and service of our citizens for over 25 years.
