Victim at "Peace Concert"
Donativo protegido
On August 13, 2014, my brother Alex was attending a concert at the Dell Music Center in Philadelphia that was being held to promote peace. He was at the peace concert with a friend. After the concert ended, Alex and his friend were heading to their car. It was there that a man pulled a gun to his friend’s head. Alex saved his friend by smacking the gun out of the man’s hand. Alex was then shot in the thigh. People that were present ran. Alex and his friend tried to run. He was shot again in the back. He collapsed and his last words to his friend were “Don’t leave me here alone, bro.”
My brother was 20 years old. He worked at Macy’s. He was to start his first year in college this fall. Alex wanted to pursue a career in nursing, driven by his passion for helping children. He had big plans for his future. He was funny, sweet, handsome, laid back, and had an easy smile. Alex was very committed to family, and would spend most of his time outside of work visiting the people closest to him. There are numerous people that considered him a dear friend. One that was trustworthy, dependable, and always there when times were tough. He set a lasting example for his younger brothers, nieces, and nephews. The reaction from the community demonstrates the kind of impact that he had on the people around him. Such outpours of emotion and support are not easily won, but Alex is certainly deserving. Everything that he did, he did in earnest, always with the intent of doing right by his family and friends.
All donations will go towards funeral expenses.
