As many of you may know, for the past year I have been working hard in the modeling industry while finishing up my senior year and preparing for college. I am so grateful for the countless opportunities I have been given, from coaching the GVAA field hockey team to modeling on news channel 8. God is still sending many more wonderful opportunities my way and I plan on taking full advantage of them. The most recent and exciting is being accepted as a contestant for the 2015 Miss Maryland USA pageant. Hundreds of women apply every year but only a select few are chosen based on a few photos submitted and an interview over the phone.
Despite the common belief that pageants are all about beauty, Miss Maryland stands for much more including charity, integrity, and scholar. The official charity of the pageant is Happy Helpers for he Homeless. This charity provides meals and other miscalaneous items that homeless people are in need of. Miss Maryland is also awarded an amazing amount of scholarship money to help further her education and help others. In order for me to participate though I need help from family, friends, and my community to raise money for the pageant weekend. People/companies that help sponsor me will be featured in the Miss Maryland brochure stating that you helped me reach my goal. Over the years I have seen the community come together in amazing ways, making me proud to call Walkersville/Frederick my home.
