Mongol Rally 2016 Charity event

In July 2016, my friend and I will be driving over 11,000 miles from the UK to Mongolia in a 1.0 litre car bought for £425. There is no support, no set route, no assistance whatsoever. Everything we need we will have to take, and anything that breaks we will have to repair ourselves.
Along the route we will have to cross deserts, mountain ranges, and countless borders. The roads will get worse and worse the further we travel and the more miles our tiny car has done.
We are both students at the University of Bath, and we are undertaking this challenge to raise money for two charities, Cancer Research UK and Cool Earth.
Cancer Research UK is personally extremely close to my heart as a number of my family members have been affected by cancer in the past few years alone. The research they do vastly improves the chances of people surviving cancer and continuing their lives.
Cool Earth is a charity that works alongside indigenous villages to halt rainforest destruction. They put local people back in control, giving them the resources they need to keep their forest intact. And by saving at-risk rainforest, they form shields for millions of acres of neighbouring forest.
As students although we have the time to complete challenges such as this to raise money for amazing causes, we do not often have the funds to do so. The trip is expensive due to base costs such as the car and necessary vaccinations so we do not die of Rabies or Hepatitis along the way.
Any funds raised through here will go toward costs of vaccines, the car, and return transport home.
