Help Blake Through Chemo
My Mother never smoked in her life.
Always upbeat, with a sense of humor that wouldn't quit, she loved the outdoors, and worked as a six-days-a-week ski instructor for childrens' ski schools, as well as a substitute teacher in regular public school.
She's not really retired yet, either. Just can't work because of health.
Now she is "Nana" to her grandkids. We would like her to come to their weddings someday. They don't understand why she can't talk to them for long anymore, without coughing.
(We haven't told them)
However, Blake (Blake-Anne, actually, but it's always been Blake for short) Just got diagnosed with stage 3 cancer, in at least one lung and lymph node.
The picture was taken four years ago, before she had any symptoms.
No one can understand how this could have happened. She did seek medical help when the symptoms first started, but they didn't see that it was cancer until just last week.
We know that our mom is too full of life to just quit, but of course it's going to be a long, difficult and painful journey.
The insurance is not enough, and medical bills are hitting already.
She usually provides daycare for my toddler, her youngest granddaughter. They are very attached. But now we'll need to pay someone to help with the baby, while the necessary chemotherapy makes her Nana sick.
Blake's husband is a long-haul truck-driver, and cannot be home as much as he wants to be, at this difficult time. He works hard to pay the bills.
We love our mom and Nana..please help.
