Diabetic Alert Dog

I'm raising money for my friend, Codi, who was recently diagnosed with Type 1 Diabetes.
Our health is something most take for granted, but for Codi, it is a passion. Running. Swimming. Hiking. Biking. Judo. Archery. The girl is the very definition of active! Much of that changed when her body stopped producing insulin. There isn't much that can be done for somebody in her position. She has become a slave to the constant pricking of needles.
She has expressed interest in a Diabetic Alert Dog, but is unable to afford one. Some may know that these dogs are truly amazing. They are trained to alert their diabetic owner when their blood sugar shifts dangerously in one direction or the other. They are not only critical for the continued health of someone like Codi, but much needed solace and companionship.
Codi was dealt a bad hand. Please help me to stack the deck in her favor.
