Melissa Haislip Nursing Scholarship

On June 18th, 2014 Melissa was killed by a drunk driver on her way home from work. Melissa worked at St. Mary's Hospital on 5 east as a BSN, RN. Melissa was in the inaugural nursing class of 2013 at Longwood University. Melissa was the first Alpha Gamma Delta at Longwood to earn a Bachelor of Science in Nursing. Melissa was very proud of all her accomplishments. She was dedicated to her patients and their families. Melissa had talked about becoming a traveling nurse and going on mission trips with St. Mary's. There were so many things that Melissa wanted to do with her nursing career. Please help us honor Melissa with this lifetime scholarship in her memory.

The Melissa Haislip Nursing Scholarship has been set up by the Longwood Foundation. Our goal is to raise $25,000 for a scholarship in Melissa's honor and memory. The Longwood Foundation will set up the scholarship in a fund that will continue to earn interest. This will allow for a $1,000 scholarship to be given to a senior nursing student each year.

Melissa was full of love, life, and most of all LAUGHTER! She is truly missed by all who had the opportunity to know her! Melissa was such a giving and caring person and that did not stop when she passed. She continued to help others by being an organ donor.
