Danny 's Christmas Toy Drive

Hi!
My name is Danny Gonzalez. I am 8 years old. For most of my life I have been fighting stage 3 Acute Lymphmoblastic Leukemia. I was Diagnosed April 20, 2010 when I was 1 year old. My life has consisted of living in and out of the hospital and getting chemotherapy every day for 6 1/2 years. In June 2013 my doctor told me I was done with Chemo forever.  I was so happy!

In August of 2014, the day before I was suppose to start 1st grade, our medical team at Loma Linda Hospital told my mom that my cancer was back. That meant I had to do chemo all over again :( That made me really sad.  I spent so many holidays and birthdays in the hospital and misssed out on so much. . .

This past September, on the 9th, was my last day of chemotherapy. I am so happy! I don't have to be in the hospital for the holidays this year...but there are a lot of kids who still do.

Through the 6 years of my cancer journey, my family has seen so many ups and downs. Emotionally, physically and financially. In the last 2 years of my battle a lot of people helped my family. It was really cool! We were given, toys, beanies, food cards, gas cards and so much more that helped my parents out a lot! They had to take off work to be with me at the hospital, so all that stuff really helped out! 

That being said, we really know what cancer does to a family. It is pretty rough. I have seen so many tears and I know it is not fair... so I want to help my cancer friends at Loma Linda just as other people have always helped me.

I want to be able to pass out toys with my good friend Batman (yes, I know Batman! He even played video games and built Lego sets with me!)  on December 9th at my chemotherapy clinic. As my friends love toys, there are also things that I know they need. Like cool beanies to keep their heads warm, socks, food cards and gas cards as some of them come from very far places. It is not easy fighting cancer, but with everyones help,  I think we can bring lots of joy this holiday season.
