Devyn Winchell Recovery Fund

Hello! 

On behalf of a circle of close friends and family, I'm reaching out to the good samaritans of the world to help a friend of mine I have known since college. Let me share her story.

Several months a go Devyn underwent a catastrophic medical emergency in the days following the birth of her twins. Following what was a fairly routine C-Section and delivery of two healthy little girls, Devyn was given a blood transfusion in order to boost her recovery.  

Unbeknownst to anyone, that little blood bag was contaminated with a potent bacterial infection that sent her into an instantaneous, devastating chain of events which resulted in massive blood loss, tissue loss, and organ damage due to the toxic effects of the infected blood. She was in a septic coma for days on end and her closest family wasn't sure she would recover. By a miracle, she did.

Though Devyn hung on to her life, that life will never be the same. Not only did she lose out on the first precious month of her daughters' lives, she and her family are learning how to adjust to her new life with physical inhibitions, emotional trauma, and constant pain.  

The severity of the damage necessitated a 6 week hospital stay (most of which was in ICU), 12 surgeries, countless doctors' appointments, clinic visits, medical equipment supplies, and in-home nursing care.  The support of Devyn's husband Dave, their parents, and circle of family and friends has been essential to Devyn weathering this storm, however, the financial cost of this medical mistake is astronomical. 

While Devyn and David would never admit it, they need our help. They are honest, hard working people doing their best to support their family. You can't plan for this sort of sudden financial burden. Unfortunately, this emergency comes at a time when Dave and Devyn are responsible for 4 beautiful, energetic little girls.

Asking for money is always uncomfortable but the need is real and the entire Winchell crew is counting on us!  Thank you in advance for helping with a donation so we, as their friends, can alleviate as much stress and burden on them as possible and for rallying more support by sharing this link with as many people as you can.

I realize that this fundraising campaign was shared previously. Please use the GoFundMe as they take a smaller percentage of donations to cover the web hosting and transaction costs. If you have already given, rest assured every cent (minus those costs) from both campaigns has gone and will continue to go straight to this incredible family.
