Help Us Help Mandi O'Connor

Mandi O'Connor: I have a rare connective tissue disorder called Ehlers-Danlos Syndrome, which makes operating on me very difficult due to fragile tissue. The rarity of my genetic disorder makes surgery dangerous. Please note before making any further comments my children have a 50/50 of developing this horrific disease and they are old enough to read what ignorant people say about their mother.
Mandi has been in the Thunder Bay Regional Hospital for 4 months. Mandi has seen specialists in Canada, but due to her fragile state, no surgeon is willing to attempt the surgery, this leaves Mandi living out her days in a hospital room. A mere 3 hours away in Duluth Minnesota is a specialist who is willing to perform this life saving surgery, but unfortunately you have to apply for out of country coverage or else OHIP will not cover the surgery because it is available in Canada. Doctors in Canada have said they will not operate on Mandi as they feel she is too fragile for the surgery. It's a vicious circle. Mandi has applied for out of country coverage back in June and the forms have been sent back several times, after 3 months of waiting and 127 days in hospital Mandi's organs are begining to fail, she can't wait no longer, we were told no patient with Mandi's disease have never been approved for out of province coverage. We have applied to Premiere Kathynn Wynn to speed up the process and hopefully approve the funds for this out of country surgery, but unfortuntely its been 127 days and Mandi is running out of time with no response from government.
If you can help, please donate. I visted Mandi today, I do not know her personally, but after meeting her daughter and watching the bond they share, I put myself in her shoes, a mother of 4, she has been in hospital 127 (august 23) and there is no release date for her because her condition is so fragile she needs 24/7 care and the only place she can receive that, is in hospital.
Her children are being raised by their father, who also works a full time job, while Mandi sits in a hospital room with no clear picture about her future.
If we all could donate $10 or whatever amount you can afford, Mandi and her entire family would be so grateful.
Thank you to all who are willing to help!
