Dive In Honduras

Donation protected

We are creating an educational outreach campaign aimed at the Bay Islands of Honduras to reach students associated with critically endangered marine habitats. The money raised in this project, will allow us to purchase Virtual Reality headsets that the students of Honduras can try on and see the underwater world as we saw during the filming of our series "Dive In: Season One." We are partnering with MarAlliance, The Roatan Marine Park and the Whale Shark and Oceanic Research Center to help us create lesson plans and curriculum that will target elementary to high school students on the islands to teach them about ocean conservation.

Any help would be a direct lifeline to these critically threatened ecosystems.

With the emergence of 360 video technology, the world is one step closer to fully experiencing the vastness of the Oceans. Running Wild Media teamed up with Kodak PixPro 360 VR Cameras to highlight some of the best the Ocean has to offer. We are creating a completely immersive show that will allow viewers to experience this unexplored world instead of just view it. Our co-founder Justin Grubb and Miss Scuba International 2018, Brittany Novick, host the series underwater to give the viewer immediate feedback on exciting animal behaviors.

For the first part of the series, the videos were shot on the coast of Honduras around the Bay Islands of Utila and Roatan. Both locations are havens for wildlife and coral reefs which are all becoming increasingly rare around the World. During the series, viewers or, experiencers, will expect to see lionfish hunting, amazing sections of coral reef and plenty of sea turtles.

The first season is complete and now, there will be an educational outreach campaign aimed towards the island of Roatan and Utila to engage young Hondurans in ocean conservation. Many of the children on the island surrounded by reef, don't often get to see the reef because of a variety of limitations. This series will break those limitations and bring the ocean to the classroom.

With your help, we can offer the students this immersive experience using Virtual Reality headsets to truly understand their impact on their local ecosystems. The money will be used to buy the classroom materials necessary implement these learning experiences. A donation of $100 will purchase one headset for a student to use during the classroom visit.  Headsets for this project are Razergon VR all-in-one headsets produced by OQTAGON. $25 will bring the Roatan based team to a school.

Any help would be a direct lifeline to these critically threatened ecosystems.
