Personal Background:
Hello, I'm Desmond J. (Djae) Outlaw, a graphic designer and photographer from Southern California and i want to say thank you for taking time to visit this page!

Any and everyone who knows me can tell you that I have a heart for travel but even more so, I love to see God move in the lives of people. Last year, I had the opportunity to go on a mission trip to Kenya that immensely changed the direction of my life and really affirmed a passion that I have for documenting the mission field. Through that trip, I had the opportunity to watch the Lord move mountains and transform hearts (mine included).

Since that trip, it has been a goal and a passion of mine to document the regenerative and sanctifying work of the Holy Spirit in the lives of people. That passion manifested itself in one way through the creation of Project:Identity, a project that I started in order to share testimonies of people who have encountered God and have had their lives radically transfigured in the best of ways. Along with that, I frequently travel and photograph just about everything.

Reason:
Ok, now that the background is done, the reason that I have created this page is because I have been blessed with the opportunity to Travel to Myanmar (Burma) this November with the amazing people at Nation's Foundation to document the mission field and work of the Free Burma Rangers.

The Free Burma Rangers:
"The Free Burma Rangers [FBR] are a mainly-Christian pro-active, pro-democracy, multi-ethnic humanitarian service movement. They bring help, hope and love to people in the war zones of Burma. Ethnic pro-democracy groups send teams to FBR to be trained, supplied and sent into the areas under attack to provide emergency medical care, shelter, food, clothing and human rights documentation. The teams also operate a communication and information network inside Burma that provides real time information from areas under attack.
In addition to relief and reporting, other results of the teams' actions are the development of leadership capacity, civil society and the strengthening of inter-ethnic unity. The teams are to avoid contact with the Burma Army and operate under the protection of the ethnic resistance armies. However, they cannot run away if the people they are helping cannot escape the Burma Army. Men and women of many ethnic groups and religions are part of FBR." - Taken from freeburmarangers.org

The History:
The Free Burma Rangers were formed during the Burma Army offensives of 1997, when villages were destroyed, people killed and over 100,000 people fled their homes; over 1 million people are still displaced inside Burma. In the face of the overwhelming force of the dictators’ army, the Free Burma Rangers organized with the idea that no one can stop people from giving love and serving each other.

Since 1997, FBR has trained over 250 multi-ethnic relief teams and there are71 full time teams active in the Arakan, Chin, Kachin, Karen, Karenni, Kayan, Lahu, Mon, Naga, Pa-Oh, Palaung and Shan areas of Burma. The teams have conducted over 800 humanitarian missions of 1-2 months into the war zones of Burma. On average around 1000 patients are treated per mission with 2,000 more people helped in some way. The teams have treated over 500,000 patients and helped over 1,100,000 people.

Based on their mission statement, "To bring help, hope and love to people of all faiths and ethnicities in the conflict zones of Burma, to shine a light on the actions of oppressors, to stand with the oppressed and support leaders and organizations committed to liberty, justice and service", The Free Burma Rangers (FBR), conduct relief, advocacy, leadership development and unity missions among the people of Burma.

The Team:
Alongside the Nations Foundation, I willing be heading to Thailand from Oct. 15th-18th to meet with the missionaries that we will be working with in Burma to do preliminary interviews and begin the documenting process. I will then leave for Burma from Nov. 10th-24th, in which that time will be spent on ground documenting and interviewing soldiers, missionaries, locals, and also assessing the needs of the missionaries out there so that we can attribute and aid in their cause to see lives changed and  hope brought to the surrounding communities. My area of service on the trip will be the photo documentation of the effort of the missionaries and the Free Burma Rangers.

The Request:
So pretty much, this opportunity is a dream come true. To be able to combine my passions for people, photography and travel for the sake of bringing hope at the revelation of Christ and glorifying the Lord is the hope of my life.

I ask that anyone who would be able and willing, would consider donating to this trip and opportunity. If you would be interested in contributing financially, please do so via this page. Any amount will help. If you cannot support via finances currently, no problem! I can definitely use prayers (which are free) just as much, if not more.  Thanks so much for taking the time to read this and please keep me in prayer.

I can't thank you enough for the love and support!
