Carolina Crown 2015 (Age-Out)

My name is James Harris, and I'm currently a Junior at East Carolina University. I'm currently majoring in both Biology and Chemistry, and I am minoring in Music. People usually ask me why I choose to add a minor in Music to the already hectic load that I already undertake. To me, it's not about the work; it's about doing what I love.
Music has been a huge part of my life. If I wouldn't have gotten into band, I don't know were I would be today. It's molded me into the person that I am today. I've met all my life-long friends in band. I've met all my girlfriends in band. I've learned how to be a leader. How to take initiative. How to not be satisfied with being mediocre. How to be great in everything I do. I owe a lot to music.
I was fortunate and blessed enough to have been given the opportunity to be a part of Carolina Crown for their 2014 season. Being a part of this organization has taught me numerous life lessons, which can be better explained in a video posted below. The friends that I've made here are family to me. And I'm excited to say that I have one more year to participate in DCI. However, even with the help that I gained last year, I still had to pay for many fees out of pocket, and I've found that I cannot financially afford to fully invest myself in the organization that I have come to love over the past summer.
That's why I hope that I can receive financial support from both my friends and family. I've already obtained a job and am in the process of trying to receive some funds, but with my school schedule, which consists of 20 credit hours this semester, I'm limited to what I can do without comprimising my academics. For me, this support is not a simple means of getting finances; it means that I can see my family again. I can spend every day next summer doing the activity that I love. Having sponsorship from you would mean the world to me.
