We are the Kapy Bash for Mothers and Children Non-profit organization acting to help Women and Children within low income and no income at all in the rural communities in DR Congo.
The founder Kapinga Bashala was left alone for 9 years after a massiveheart attack that took the life of her first husband at the age of 45. She took care of her children and credits her family, friends, church most of all for being there for her.
Kapinga's struggle was the inspiration for her to create the Non-profit Kapy Bash for Mothers and Children in Congo. She wants to give back to the community, what she got, when she was in need.
Kapinga does not do this alone. The Co-Founder of the Kapy Bash for Mothers and Children is her 2nd husband, Pediatrician, Dr Luc Kamanga along with other Medical Professionals and other volunteers give free care, free consultations and follow up in monthly basis.
Our mission is to assist women and children :
- To improve the health of women and children
-To facilitate access to healthcare facility
-Provide clean drinking water, food, medecines, beneficial healthcare and education
-Communication and Patient teaching
-Emphasize good hygiene for infection control
-Empower women to be self-sufficient by teaching the importance of education.
Thousands of people suffer from different type of deseases due to poor hygiene, malnutrition, improper drinking water and lack of accessibility to healthcare facilities.
The DR Congo has one the highest death rate of children under the age of five ( 1/7 children die before they reach their 5th birthday in the Congo from Unitef report),These statistics are a direct result of not having access to adequate healthcare facilities, the means to reach the hospital or to pay for the hospital bills.
Most of the Children in rural communities don't have toys as we do here. They don't know what Barbie or who she is, they don't know anything about Nintendo or Play Station. Girls make their dolls out of fabrics from their old clothes or they go to nearby tailored places to collect fabrics to make dolls, boys do the same to make their balls.
We were the DR Congo with our Charity the Kapy Bash for Mothers and Children to help them this past Summer, they ask us for help, they need help in about everything, anything...
From school supplies, school fees, Malaria Treatment and prevention (which is of the leading cause of mortality in young population), food etc
They want to know when are we going back? Are we going to ask people in America for help? They're hoping that we will be back and we will be able to assist them...
They made Dolls for us to give out to people in America after they make donation.
That's why we calling this project "Dolls for Hope"
There's a lot to be done. It's our goal
-To decrease the mortality rate in Mothers and Children
-To make a difference in the lives of the Women and Children in the Democratic Republic of Congo.
By empowering these women, by educating these women, they can in turn teach others.
Lets put our hands together, and make changes.
