Gifts for Santa Clara
Cantón Santa Clara, El Salvador, is a rural community comprised of approximately 400 households. The majority of community members live in poverty, engaging primarily in subsistence farming, growing corn, beans, and some livestock.
EWB-DC began engaging with this community in 2004 to install an improved drinking water supply system. In 2012, the drinking water system was completed, with an initial distribution network reaching over 200 households in the community.
We're happy to report that the system continues to grow! In 2017, EWB-DC completed their final trip and handed over the water system to the community. The work in Santa Clara has been rewarding for us on many levels. From our first discussions of a community water system for Santa Clara to the functioning water system that has come to fruition, the project has been a remarkable journey.
We'd like to end our journey with a small donation of gifts and school supplies for the community. However, this donation will be funded by the current team members and from anyone who would be so kind to make a small donation of any amount in support of the community and our project.
We thank you for taking the time to learn about our project and we wish Cantón Santa Clara a prosperous future.
