Durango Joe's was established in 2013 by owner and operator, Joel "Durango Joe" Sweeney. Durango Joe saw a need for a community resource for our night life, one which could save lives.
Joel "Durango Joe" Sweeney knows first hand the dangers of drinking and driving. He ahd his fair share of DWI's, accidents, failed relationships and even time in the correctional system. However, things changed for Joel when he was hospitalized and nearly died from acute kidney failure which the doctors told him was due to his excessive drinking. So Joel realized he had hit rock bottom and turned his life around.
Now with 7 years of sobriety under his belt he decided to give back and help others avoid the mistakes he made. So he began a Sober Cab ride (Often for free).
Although Durango Joe began as basically a Free Will Sober Cab, Joel realized others needed safe rides for everyday activities including work and shopping, and has since reached further into our communities and has helped the disabled, elderly and even worked with Pierce County Huber program.
Durango Joe's is a Free Will Ride Service, meaning an hour trip might only get $3. However Durango Joe's is looking to expand and is in need of more drivers. They also need funding for vehicle maintenance, insurance and all of the overhead costs. Everything earned by rides, donations and hopefully (someday) sponsors, will go back into the company. Joel is not looking to profit from his company, he is trying to help our community. So please find it in your hearts to donate to this great cause!
