Save The Clock Lake Charles

Hello, My name is Jason Machulski, although you might know me as The Bayou Picker. I come to you for help on saving a piece of history. “The Heritage Clock,” also known as the clock that sits outside of Keith’s Pawn Shop, is in danger of being sold and taken down. I have talked to many people in the Lake Area and all have memories of “The Heritage Clock.”
I usually do not ask for help in ventures like this, but unfortunately I cannot save this one by myself. I’m asking for donations. The money will be used to purchase the clock and to keep it where it is so that future generation can create their memories as they walk in downtown Lake Charles. The amount we’re raising may seem like a lot, but it will cost at least this much to purchase it from the owners of the pawn shop. They are closing their doors and I would rather not see the doors close on this iconic piece of history.
“The Heritage Clock” was installed in its current location by the owners of the pawn shop, but it has become an amazing piece of architectural history and needs to be treated as such. If there is any money left over from our fundraising efforts, we will take every effort to restore it to its natural beauty.
Those of you that know me know I have a passion for history and preservation. One of my greatest passions is to make sure artifacts end up where they will be appreciated, loved and cherished for years to come. If the funds raised are not enough to purchase the clock, all funds gathered will be donated to a reputable entity: either a local museum that needs funding or to an organization that will help to support the arts and culture of Lake Charles.
Every donor will be recognized in a book that shows how they have played a role in preserving history. It truly is an amazing feeling to be able to play a role in the history of your community. This money must be raised by October 10th, or the opportunity will pass us by. Time is really of the essence right now. Even a donation of one dollar can help to save this precious piece of history.
