SUPPORTERS OF WESTBROOK PARK EAGLE
Donation protected
This Go Fund Me account has been set up to fund the carving of a tree trunk by a Master Chainsaw Artist. Sponsored by the "Supporters Of Westbrook Park" in Philomath, Oregon; the goal is $3000. dollars.
Mr. Michael Sprouse, who is heading up the campaign, has been fighting Multiple Myeloma, a terminal cancer of the plasma cells. Having gone through a bone marrow transplant about 4 years ago, he was given about 2-5 years of life expectancy.
"I spent 2 years sitting in my garage entrance recovering and practicing my carving hobby," says Mr. Sprouse.
"Watching the life cycle of that 75-100 year old Oak and its inhabitants, including an American Bald Eagle, I felt a kinship.
"When the city decided, this spring, to remove the tree due to natural problems, it didn't seem right to reduce it to just a stump. Thats when I thought it could still be a focal point of WestBrook Park. Being a wood carver myself, it looked like a perfect subject for a large American Bald Eagle sculpture."
"Through research I found a couple of outstanding "Chainsaw Artists" that could handle such a big job. I worked with the city to leave about 15 feet of the trunk for carving."
All monies collected will go to the WestBrook Park Eagle fund. If we don't meet our goal, any monies collected will go only to improvements in WestBrook Park at Topaz and Jade street.
