Score A Goal For Edina Public Art!
Donation protected
Help support public art in Edina, Minnesota, and celebrate hockey's importance in the community! With your donation, we can purchase 'Slapshot' and place him in front of Braemar Arena. Any funds above and beyond the goal will go to commission a sculpture of a figure skater to also be placed at Braemar Arena.
The Artwork: “Slapshot” is made of plate steel No. 1040. The sculpture weighs 300 pounds and stands at just over 4 feet high. The sculpture is modern yet representational with a fluid and spontaneous style intent on capturing movement and natural gestures.
The Artist: Judd Nelson grew up in Minnesota and loved being outdoors and studying the animals he found there. He started welding in high school at age 15, and two years later bought his first set of welding tanks. Judd teaches Art Welding to artists and teens at the Minnetonka Center for the Arts.
Donation note: While funders may mark their donations as private, any donation received will be presented to and accepted by the City Council, and will include names of donors.
