Lyme expenses

Donation protected
Hi, my name is Christopher. This is me on an airplane to go see my new doctor. I was bitten by a tick in 2013 when I was just two years old. My mom noticed a rash not long after the bite and took me to some doctors, but they told her nothing was wrong and sent me home. But my mom was suspicious the way only a mom can be!
Mom and dad found a doctor who agreed to run some tests which confirmed that... I had gotten Lyme disease. Lyme is scary business, and if not treated it can leave you cripple and in pain. And once it sets in it is just like the tick – it doesn’t like to let go and just keeps getting worse! On the outside I look like every other three year old, but on the inside I have a virus that can affect almost every part of me. Without good treatment it can be a lifelong problem.
So why am I telling you this? Because I am asking for help for my family. My parents have had to pay for everything out of pocket because the type of insurance we use (medical sharing) sees this sickness as pre-existing and can only help once all treatment is complete. That could take quite a long time.
I now have a doctor who understands how this disease works and she has started me on a treatment plan to try and get me better. The doctor says my treatments will last between 6 months to a year if everything goes well. The hard part is the treatment is expensive. It starts with antibiotics and other medications to kill all the really bad guys, different supplements to help my body fight the side effects of those crazy bad guys, and more lab work to find out how things are going and if any of those bad guys are hiding anywhere else– did you know they play hide and seek?
My parents want to take good care of me, and are trying the best they know how, but they need some help funding all my treatments. Who knew I’d be this expensive before braces or college??
Thank you for reading my story. Any help makes my mom and dad smile and reminds them that God lets blessings come from other people too! If you would like to learn more you can see me (in color!) on Facebook under “Christopher’s Lyme Fight”. Thank you and I promise to give you a kiss, hug, or karate chop depending on …. Well… because I am three!
