This is my first ever *crowdfunding* campaign! And I have to admit, I had to be talked into it! Your recent Facebook feedback on the idea of Elbow Room outdoor seating has inspired me to reach out ~ since I know I just can't build this thing without a little help from my friends.
I've worked really hard to transform a rustic, industrial loading dock into a coffee bar, micro-roastery, and community space - the kind of space that is diverse and inclusive. The Elbow Room ~ a total architectural challenge ~ actually lends itself perfectly to building a deck right off the front loading dock door, providing a seasonal place to hang your hat and sit a spell with an iced coffee, breakfast burrito, a pastry or sweet treat ~ and all your old and new friends.
Our vision for our deck is a roughly 10 by 30 foot wooden platform, with railings, either a custom awning or oversized umbrellas for shading, and lots of plants to give the space a warm and private tone, tucking away the busy road from view. A little piece of the old country here in our Hilltown neck of the woods!
Now....to the nitty gritty. In order to do this right (and not have "outdoor seating" that looks like my porch from when I was in college!) we are going to need a bunch of STUFF! Decking material, stain, paint and sealant, railings, an awning or umbrellas, commercial-quality seating, lighting, gutters, landscaping for expanded parking, plants and more plants, signage, a trash/recycle/compost station...well... you get the idea.
I'm seeking $3,500 for this project to cover all that STUFF! We are still going to build it creatively and on a dime, since I am super fortunate to have friends who have volunteered to help out! I am going to run this campaign for a month, so if it all works out, we can get cracking on it ASAP for the coming season.

If this campaign happens to raise more than our goal, I'd put those funds toward upgrading older kitchen and coffee equipment, and perhaps investing in staffing and expanding the hours here.
