Eli’s Fight with Childhood Cancer
Donation protected
What should of been the happiest time of our lives welcoming our beautiful baby boy into this world, we instead welcomed a very fragile sick beautiful boy 4 weeks early due to a finding of a large mass in his chest.
Unfortunately this mass turned out to be a cancerous fibrosarcoma.
Eli was intubated at birth, had a blood transfusion at 1 hr old and straight for a biopsy at 2 hrs old. After discovering it was a cancerous tumor Eli had chemotherapy on day 3 of his fragile life.
We then spent 6 weeks in PICU and 2 weeks in Michael Rice Ward (cancer ward) before we was discharged on New Years Eve eve.
We have spent some time at home but lots of time living in hospital having intensive treatments, blood transfusions and constant monitoring.
Unfortunately Eli's tumor is no longer responding to any treatment and Eli has been placed into palliative care.
As you know all of this is a life changing experience and you are not prepared for the extra costs involved such as medication, car parking, time off work, food and just everyday living.
Living day by day not knowing if it will be our last is very challenging but everyday is a memory made xx
