It's hard to believe its only been a couple of months since Elsa was officially diagnosed with inoperable Stage 4 cancer. In early June 2016, Elsa Moran-Valverde, a wife, daughter, mother, grandmother, aunt, sister, and friend to so many, received the news that there was nothing more that could be done. Her cancer is aggressive and widespread. Her only consolation now is to pass her remaining days at home, in hospice, as comfortable as possible. In order to make her comfortable, her financial burden must be relieved. This summer alone she has incurred thousands of dollars in medical bills that need to be paid; her husband of 35 years, Daniel Valverde (primary provider), has had to take an unpaid leave of absence from work in order to provide the home health care that her insurance will not cover.
The funds will be used to pay for past, present, and future medical and living expenses (prescriptions, daily home health care, etc.). If our goal is met, Daniel may be able to return to work which will enable them to start sustaining themselves again.
If you know Elsa, you know that she always goes above and beyond for anyone in need. Now it’s time for us, family and friends, to help her in her time of need...
THE MORAN & VALVERDE FAMILIES AND FRIENDS THANK YOU FOR YOUR SUPPORT DURING THIS DIFFICULT TIME FOR ALL OF US.
~Who Elsa is to Us~
Born and raised on the Westside of San Antonio, Texas, Elsa is a graduate of Sidney Lanier High School. At UT, she became a civil rights activist working for equality. As a 40-year member of LULAC, Elsa continued her activism coordinating many events, both regionally and nationally but never forgetting her Westside roots.
Now, she loves spending time with her three grandchildren and documenting family memories as part of her legacy.
