Money to Aid Malawi Students

Hi everyone,
Our physics teacher at Evanston Township High School, Dr. Mark Vondracek (Doc V), met Andrews Nchessie at the Global Teacher Prize awards in Dubai, and learned that the school Mr. Nchessie teaches at has been greatly affected by the current drought and famine in Malawi. The students had been eating plant roots and nuts, and had been encouraged by the president of Malawi to find small rodents to eat.
The famine forced students to spend their time scrounging for food, rather than attending school.
Greatly troubled by this information, Doc V led students to try to raise money to send to Malawi, and with the help of our classmates and school we were able to raise money for the Malawi schools to begin buying land for farming. However, they still need to maintain an irrigation system to sustain the crops, purchase more land, buy additional seed and fertilizer, and also funds to raise and trade livestock. The expansion is necessary because during the COVID-19 pandemic, the crops are being used to feed the entire village in addition to the schools.
We want students around the world to be able to have the privilege of a good education, which they can't have when they're starving. With your donations, these students will be able to attend school, where they can learn how to sustain their village's food through farming.
One USD is equivalent to around 750 Malawian Kwacha, meaning every dollar can make a huge difference. Every cent will go directly to Andrew Nchessie's school, Kasungu Demonstration School, and through your funds he can show other schools how to sustain the crops in their own communities.
Education is a human right, and we believe it should never be compromised by unavoidable factors.
