Experience Culebra

Culebra, Puerto Rico sustained damages from two Category 5 Hurricanes (Hurricane Maria & Hurricane Irma) and for the last few months has been working tirelessly to rebuild.

Though preparations are still in progress, Culebra is well on its way to being more beautiful than ever before. Beaches have been cleaned. Electricity is available 24-7 via diesel generators. Water is at a consistent flow. Most importantly, the businesses, after a hiatus of several months, are already starting to accept tourists.


The purpose of this proposal is to implement a media and marketing plan to help boost tourism in Culebra, Puerto Rico. 

Culebra sustained much less damage from these natural disasters than the rest of the islands.  It will be ready to accept tourists by mid-January or sooner. Even so, nearly all businesses sustained a massive financial loss, causing many to close permanently. We are looking to raise money to assist in the creation of a media and marketing campaign to boost tourism for the island and make it even more tourist friendly than it has been in the past, helping businesses recoup their loses and bolster the depressed economy.


The Marketing & Media Campaign will consist of...

1. Comprehensive Island Website called "ExperienceCulebra.com "

ExperienceCulebra.com will be programmed specifically for Culebra, detailing everything from local businesses to hiking trails to information on local wildlife as well as other aspects of culture, history, local art and environmental conservation. Though there are some pre-existing resources online already, most are either out of date or not comprehensive. This website will be the definitive island resource for tourism. It will be promoted via the local tourism office as well as via a video marketing campaign and social media.


2. Video Marketing Campaign

A video marketing campaign will be produced and will include a series of short promotional videos about local businesses and “hot” places to visit on the island. The commercials will feed directly into the website and other social media channels. They will give Puerto Rico an additional edge over other Caribbean tourist destinations by virtue of the comprehensive and personalized approach to local businesses and attractions.

Additionally, we will produce a longer five minute video about respecting the island as a nature preserve that will be played both online as well as to crowds waiting for ferries and flights to the island as well as in the local taxis. This will inform people both about keeping the island beautiful and educating them on the uniqueness of their travel destination.
