Flight Camp is back on for 2021!!!
Join us in making a difference during our Annual Big Sky Kid's Cancer Survivor Flight Camp July 12-16, 2021! Every summer, Summit Aviation and Eagle Mount join forces for this fantastic event! The Flight Camp is a week-long pilot training camp held at Summit's headquarters at the Bozeman Yellowstone International Airport and was created to give young cancer survivors the experience of a lifetime that these amazing individuals greatly deserve.
Every year four young adult survivors of childhood cancer are chosen from Eagle Mount's Big Sky Kid's program to participate in this week-long flying adventure! The week includes one-on-one instruction with Certified Flight Instructors, over 10 hours of flight time in Summit’s state-of-the-art Diamond aircraft, ground school courses covering topics such as basic aerodynamics and cross-country flight planning, as well as behind the scenes tours of rarely seen areas like the traffic control tower and private hangars.
It’s all made possible only by private donations (Eagle Mount never accepts any government funding) and the donated time of Summit Aviation's Flight Instructors. The in-air instruction doubles as a first-class sightseeing tour of Montana, flying over breathtaking sites like the snow-capped Bridger Mountains and the Natural Bridge Falls near Big Timber.
The week culminates in a spectacular cross-country flight to Driggs, Idaho, that takes them above the famous Yellowstone National Park, where the camper's witness the incredible sights of the Grand Canyon of Yellowstone, the Grand Prismatic Spring (displaying it's full range of colors from above), the Grand Tetons, and the majestic Old Faithful Geyser!
The transformation these individuals go through during the week is amazing to witness. For some, it’s a chance at an incredible experience after stolen opportunities; for others, it’s about removing limitations and revealing new skills and abilities. No matter the journey they take, the destination is one of new-found freedom, confidence and ability.
Thank you for helping us make this wonderful event possible!!!
