Lil Miss Kaianne Davis

 Hey everyone. We were so excited to undergo the 5 AZA trial since our last update. Kaianne’s tumor was responding well. The harsh treatments became our new normal and we adjusted to it as best we could.  

As much as this affected our family dynamics, we vowed to do anything we needed to, to give Kaianne the best chance to beat this horrible monster that found a home in her head.

Kaianne survived and cancer did not break us.  What it did break was the bank.  It is a humbling position to be in but we made it through with sacrifice and help from friends and family.

 We were just starting to exhale again. The boys were just acclimating to their new school. Kaianne was catching up on some milestones….and then on January 4th, 2023 we got devastating news from her three month scans, that even brought her pediatric oncologist to his knees.

Not only is her cancer back. Duke has no more options for her.  We are running out of time to decide what to do, and the biggest hurdle for us right now is HOW we are going to FUND this next step in her treatment.

 We will again, be crossing state lines to Houston, Texas. The only place in the US that has a trial for Kaianne’s type of brain cancer & gives us any hope for her which is financially devasting.   Our doctors at Duke will work with Texas Children’s Hospital in a clinical trial that will last 7-8 weeks.   

On top of it all, we will be essentially DOUBLING our living expenses for almost 2 months.   Carl will need to take some time off of work through FMLA.

Our 19 year old Na’Kai has agreed to put life on pause again to help us get the boys to school and their activities which are so important for consistency and their mental health. The heartbreak of a second recurrence is minuscule to us right now as we need to put that aside and find a way to:
    1.  Make this trip to Texas.  Airfare to and from Texas for the three of us.     
   
    2.  Household essentials for the boys for 6-7 weeks. The link to our Amazon wishlist is:
