Help The Legend Barry Charles Pay Medical Bills

The last 12 months have been the most challenging for Barry and his wife Diana. Anyone who knows, or knows of Barry might be aware that he contracted polio as a child and has been on walking sticks for 20 years or more. Over time this has damaged his shoulders from tendinitis, bursitis, impingement, rotator cuff tear and capsulitis. This has resulted in Barry having to upgrade to a wheelie walker and then on to a disability scooter ($3000) which he purchased recently on loan from a friend

It’s been recommended that a wheelchair is what he needs but this would only exacerbate the pain and pressure on his shoulders and arms.

He also had to borrow money ($7000) to get his cataracts in his eyes done privately after being on a public waiting list for over 12 months.

The loans were taken out knowing he’d be able to pay it off as he was still able to consistently work.

Five months ago he started suffering from Carpal tunnel syndrome in his hands which has affected his guitar playing. He can sadly only currently play a nylon string guitar for around 20 minutes at a time. The operation to fix this is also hefty. (Around $3000)

This operation is one of the focuses for this campaign as it will hopefully mean Barry can get back on the stage sooner rather than later and get back to doing what he was born to do.

With the mentioned physical problems Barry has been facing, he and Diana both contracted COVID last week forcing him to pull out a festival gig halfway through.

Barry found himself in an unfortunate situation where he had to list some of his musical equipment for sale to pay bills.

This is where I found him and decided to step in and help him get over this hump.

Barry will bounce back no doubt but being physically compromised and living on a pension has made things tough for Barry and Diana with increasing living costs that we’re all experiencing.
