Ellis R. Tripp III Foundation

I had just heard my son's voice, heard him say, "Mommy I can't wait to see you, I love you", just 20 minutes prior to receiving the dreaded call.

My son Ellis R. Tripp III "My Saving Grace", was born into adversity. Only hours after his birth, doctors informed me that Ellis would have to undergo open heart surgery in order to save his life. After miraculously sustaining two open heart surgeries, Ellis' heart recovered.

Unbeknownst to the doctors' and myself, we expected Ellis to continue living the typical life of a teenager. As yearly routine checkups were essential to Ellis' health. However, two weeks following Ellis' 15th birthday, on May 19, 2013, Ellis' heart suddenly stopped while doing what he loves (playing basketball). After almost twenty minutes of no heartbeat, no oxygen, no life, the paramedics were able to resuscitate him. As a result of lack of oxygen, Ellis now suffers from an anoxic brain injury which has essentially left him in total incapacitation.

Ellis spent nearly two months in the hospital striving to reclaim life. In these moments watching my son battle and struggle for his life, I was inspired to ameliorate the situation. Bearing witness to Ellis' fight manifested my driving force: I vowed to find balance in efforts to afford him the comforts of life.

Ellis requires a vast amount of care upon his release from the hospital. Including, physical therapy, speech therapy, medical care, & all daily hygiene care. He must relearn EVERYTHING. For the past seven months my family and I have diligently been working along side therapists, doctors, and nursing staff to bring Ellis up to necessary standard for inpatient rehabilitation. We collectively accept the challenge of overcoming extreme adversities and look for a window of opportunity necessary to change his conditions, impelled through the desire to make a better life for Ellis.

It is not enough that I advocate for this chance at rehab. We are currently raising funds to possibly afford the costs of Ellis' care and the expenses for rehabilitation. Our goal is to get Ellis into rehab while continuing to keep him comfortable during his current state. *Please understand that medicaid will only afford the cost for 6 months rehabilitation once Ellis is accepted. He is looking at the least a year, if not more, of rehabilitation services.

Please assist in our endeavor. Thank you all in advance for your support, care, and concern. Check the additional links for further information and updates.

Sincerely,
As I await the moment when I'll hear my son's voice again, feel him engage & interact with me... I say in the midst of this storm, with tears of joy, THANK YOU GOD!
