67 days

67 days | It took our babies 67 days to come home

Born on January 3rd weighing just 825 grams and 1.015kg , Winnie and Teddi spent 67 days in and out of critical condition in a Level 4 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. There were many occasions we thought we never thought we'd make it to this day. A day where we're all at home, alive and on a 67 day countdown to their 1st birthday.

Their impressive NICU resume included:

- Sepsis
- Respiratory distress syndrome
- Hypoxemia
- Very low birth weight
- Micro-prematurity
- Hypoglycemia
- Neonatal jaundice
- Patent Ductus Arteriosus
- Hynonatremia
- Osteopenia
- Severe Anemia resulting in Blood Transfusions
- Apnea
- Retinopathy of Prematurity
- Chronic Lung disease
- Neonatal Sensory Disorder
- Bilateral inguinal hernia
- Feeding difficulties, Aspiration
- Bradycardia
- Tachycardia
and much more...

So, in support of the NICU babies that didn't graduate, the babies that did, their families that fought alongside them everyday, and their mothers that are healing from severe mental and physical health conditions. Mummy, Daddy, Winnie and Teddi will be running 6.7km every day for the 67 day countdown to their 1st birthday to raise money for premature birth research.

Each year, around 60,000 babies in the UK are born preterm and sadly more than 1,000 babies die as a result of being born too soon. GLOBALLY, premature birth is the biggest killer of children under 5.

And for those that do survive being born too soon, they have an increased risk of cerebral palsy, visual impairment, hearing loss and learning difficulties. Action Medical Research is the leading UK-wide medical research charity dedicated to helping babies and children and are working together to raise £1 million to fund vital research that can save lives.

Research is vital so that we can understand which women are likely to go into labour early, and help them carry their baby for as long as possible. We're grateful for every single penny and social share and hope that one day, fetuses like Winnie and Teddi can stay inside the womb for a little bit longer <3

Lots of love, Danny, Megan, Winnie Woo and Teddi Bear
