Nathaniel is our awesome, special guy. He loves his family, and he loves having fun. Nathaniel is our autistic 12 year old young man.
Until recently, he has been going to school, and enjoying the routine of his everyday life. Distance learning is safer, but less effective for someone like our big guy. He thrives on the routine life he had. Unfortunately, our world is anything but routine right now.
Heidi, his mom, stays home to support our boy. I work at a hospital and we have had financial problems due to this pandemic, like most hospitals have. Where he would normally be getting a lot of activity at school, he can no longer get it there. We are currently in the process of closing on a new (to us) home to make more space for all our kids, but we are moving faster than originally anticipated due in no small part to Covid-19.
Nathaniel needs more space to play and learn safely. The home we are getting has the perfect sized yard for him, but we need a fence to keep him safe, and we need some sensory activities to stimulate and encourage him. The financial burden of the house is enough to slow down how quickly we can get the needed supplies. We can keep him safe, and support him as is, but the more we have, the better he can be.
