Residents of the Texas and Pacific Lofts are interested in playing a part in the revitalization of areas around the T & P Passage area and Al Hayne Park. This project involves a landscape improvement plan along the sidewalk on the south side of Lancaster Avenue. The improvement plan will be a depiction of the terrain that the T & P Railroad would have passed through on its route through the west Texas desert to California. Central to this project is the emphasis on the Heritage Trails "Trains" historic marker, sponsored by the BNSF Railway Company that is located within the proposed landscape improvement area. Phase 1 of the plan has been completed with voluntary contributions from about 30 of our neighbors. $3,785.00 was spent of 7,000 lbs. of decomposed granite, 3,000 lbs. of boulders, cactus and various plantings.
The Engagement Committee of the T&P Lofts has adopted the easement and adjoining bus stop and will continue to actively maintain the proposed improvement area. Almost all of the improvement cacti survived the winter sprouting over 60 new growth pups. The program will continue after the summer heat subsides and hope you will further participate in the 2026 Adopt a Cactus campaign. A contribution of $60.00 will adopt a Cactus and purchase a 75lb. bag of additional decomposed granite.
Irrigation lines trip hazards are being removed and with properly chosen plantings the landscaped walkway should become an opportunity to further revitalize the area in front of the Historic T&P Building, the adjacent Al Hayne Park and the recent enhancements provided by the T&P Passage Project. Many thanks to Mia Boatner and the office of City Councilwoman Elizabeth Beck whose office arranged a meeting with Fort Worth Parks & Recreation gaining us approval to move forward and consider future improvements.
The Botanic Research Institute of Texas has a test project underway in downtown Fort Worth that hopes to identify suitable minimal maintenance floral plantings to enhance the urban streetscapes. This landscape improvement plan will make a difference in downtown Fort Worth! You can help, your donation will go a long way or you can join our volunteers. Got a truck? Contact the organizer.
Long time Texas & Pacific Loft resident and current T & P HOA Loft President Greg Jensen formed Lancaster District Historic, Inc. (LDH) in early 2019 as a 501 (C) 3 non profit corporation to showcase and connect people to the history and architecture of the Lancaster neighborhood. Contributions received from this campaign will be expended on improving and maintaining the landscape. LDH will administer the project and provide an ongoing accounting to the Texas & Pacific Board Of Directors.
August 5, 2025 update: Danny Simmons left a generous donation by check with the T&P concierge made payable to Lancaster District Historic that has put the fundraiser at over 50% of goal! He included the following note. "Thank you for your pride in our community. The beds out front are a trip hazard, an eye sore and litter box. I will be interested to hear the long term plan to maintain the beds. Please accept this check for $300.00 to get us started." Well put! and thank you Danny!
Sept. 2026 We are currently conducting an Adopt A Cactus promotion, with a $60.00 contribution you adopt a new cactus planting and purchase a 75lb. bag of replacement decomposed granite to be installed Oct. 17, 2026 coinciding with Fort Worth's Litter Stomp.
