Lands End to John O'Groats Record Attempt Aug 2019

Christina Mackenzie is a Scottish athlete born and raised in Stornoway on the Isle of Lewis. She is a fully committed endurance athlete with an innate belief that “anything is possible” which sums up perfectly the current challenge that she has set herself.
She is the current holder of the British women’s VTTA 24hr Time Trial record and has a proven and impressive track record in even the most extreme endurance events. Christina has leading performances in Ironman, The Celtman (Scotland’s extreme triathlon) and Ireland’s ultimate 24hr endurance challenge The Race Donegal.
Her courage, commitment and experience now lead her to an attempt to break the female world record to cycle from Land’s End to John O’Groats (LeJOG).

To attempt the fastest journey from Land’s End to John O’Groats by bicycle for a female
▪ Total distance of 839 miles
▪ Current record held by Lynne (Taylor) Biddulph @ 52h 45 mins 11 seconds set in 2002
▪ Registered record attempt with Roads Records Association (RRA)
▪ Supported by 3 vehicles, 6 core support crew and 4 RRA officials.
Christina has dedicated everything to training and preparing for this attempt over the last year, all whilst holding down a full time job. She is a real role model to young, (and not so young), people, encouraging so many to engage in cycling and offering advice and encouragement wherever she can. Christina is out to prove that anything is possible and everyone should always realise their own potential to the full.
In order to achieve this record the logistics involved cannot be underestimated and require money to put the necessary support and assistance in place. A cost analysis has been completed by Christina and her support team and we are looking to raise £6500 to ensure Christina has everything needed for the professional and safe approach the challenge requires. This will cover only essential costs relating to the challenge including transport, accommodation, officials expenses and other necessary spend. We are therefore asking for your support to make this happen.
This is a strictly non-profit making venture and any monies raised over the required spend to ensure a professional and safe attempt will be donated to our chosen charity Cancer Research UK, The Cancer Research UK Committee in Lewis was established in 1975 and in the last 40 years have raised over £1.2 million pounds for Cancer Research.
