Luca Sportelli - Memorials & Stroke Association

Any additional funds above the the initial target of the portrait costs (£275 - see below)  will be equally divided between 50% going towards a donation supporting the Stroke Association and the other 50%  going towards  a cremation ring, a ring holding some ashes, that I otherwise not be able to afford. 

This year was supposed to be a great year, but instead finally planning a lovely birthday party again and planning our first actual holiday since 2015 first we were hit by a pandemic and then it came even worse.

You might know already, on the 3rd of  August Luca had a stroke and before I was even able to understand what was going on I found myself having to give consent to life-saving surgery. However even that never happened and only 6 hours after he had been perfectly fine, I was informed that all that they would be able to do now will be making him comfortable.   He never regained consciousness and died the next day in the hospital.  


So now, instead of planning birthdays or holidays, we are finding ourselves planning a funeral in the middle of the pandemic, after I suddenly lost my partner of 7 years. It will still take some time until I can accept or understand it, every time there is a sound in the flat I keep forgetting that he is not around anymore.

Now I would love to have a couples portrait made to both have as a lovely piece of memory that I can frame and keep but also to pass on with Luca on his "last journey". This portrait would be made by Planet Prudence,  a lovely artist who goes online by the name  Planetprudence and will cost £135 (150 Euros)  to be made, while the additional £75-£150 are printing costs to have the portrait printed and framed for me and other members of his family.

Unfortunately, I won't be able to afford the costs for this portrait in time for the funeral. Therefore I would appreciate if you rather than buying flowers that will fade away, you would consider just contributing a few pounds to this project, or maybe a few pounds of what would have been a part of a birthday present, wouldn't have the pandemic intervened I will obviously share the finished item here.

These memorial items are particularly important to me as Luca will be cremated and won't has a traditional grave and gravestone that I could visit for example.

These memorial items would, for example, be an urn bracelet or cremation ring, both being pieces of jewellery holding some ashes of the loved one so that you can keep carrying them with you close to your heart, as well as resizing his ring that he used to wear every day so that I  will be able to keep him close with me.

The  Stroke Association  is an organisation who supports victims and families of stroke and  is raising awareness of stroke symptoms and how to best act in case of a stroke to give your loved ones the best chance.

Hug all your loved ones, please. Life is unfair and I have learned this summer how fast things can change, so please don't wait to start living your life or to hug your family. I hope all of you are and remain safe!  

Also please let me know if you would like to either attend the funeral in person or would like to join us virtually we will most likely privately share the ceremony with friends online would like to take part but cannot travel to the UK from Germany etc. The funeral will take place on the 1st of September at 4:30 UK time.
