A memorial to the babies of Shrewsbury Hospital
Donation protected
43 years ago my sister Samantha was stillborn. My mum’s experience of this loss, and the way she was treated at the hospital by staff, has stayed with her four decades on. It is still painful for her.
Every year she goes to Longden Road Cemetery in Shrewsbury to wish my sister a happy birthday. For many people who lost their children at The Royal Shrewsbury Hospital, this is the only place they have to grieve and remember them.
The current memorial is upsetting to look at and it was heartbreaking to see how this has been neglected over time.
In memory of my older sister Samantha, and all the children who were taken too soon, I would like to raise money for a more fitting tribute to be installed at the cemetery.
