A Midsummer Night's 24hr Shakespeare Marathon with Compass
Thank you so much for supporting our 24 hour Shakespeare Marathon team.
On Midsummer Night -Friday 21st - Saturday 22nd June- WITH SPECIAL GUEST TOBY JONES - we're reading as many of Shakespeare's plays as possible to raise money for Compass Collective during Refugee Week - a national event celebrating the contributions of people seeking sanctuary.
But first... a bit about us!
Compass Collective is an award winning arts charity that assists unaccompanied minor refugees and young people seeking asylum to build resilience successfully integrate into the UK. We achieve this through a variety of projects including creative English language classes, theatre, music, and film projects and professional development programmes. We support approximately 350 young people aged 14-28 a year, in over 28 locations in the UK.
Why are we fundraising?
Considering the recent Rwanda Safety Bill, the Compass Collective and SCRUM community stands in solidarity with refugees and migrants facing uncertainty and fear. We are committed to cultivating an environment of welcome, compassion and care. We have seen a huge increase of young people needing support as a result of the bill and as a result urgently need to support our welfare team to offer 1:1 advice and signposting, mental health support and group information sharing sessions in person and on Zoom.
24 HOUR SHAKESPEARE MARATHON 9am 21st June - 9am 22nd June 2024
A growing team of Actors / Supporters /Compass young people are tackling all (well most of...) Shakespeare's plays. There will be a core group taking on the full 24 hours, supported by others who will pitch in as many hours as they are able.
What difference can you make?
- £20 Can provide a mobile data package for a young person to attend our session and stay informed and connected to the Compass community, to friends and family.
- £50 Can provide 3 young people with one to one advice and sign posting
- £100 Can provide 25 young people with an online information session with a Q&A with legal aid.
"What country friends is this?" - We have the shared responsibility and power to reshape the narrative our young people hear. Let's make them feel supported and welcomed.
Thank you very much for supporting us!
